Hi, my name is Laura Fincher, and I would be honored if you voted for me to serve another term on Alexandria City Council.

I want to see Alexandria continue to be a great place to raise a family with attractive amenities and a strong sense of community. I would like to balance local charm with thoughtful business growth so that our residents can choose to keep more of their spending power in city limits. I want to continue to invest in our police force under the leadership of Chief Cooper. In short, I want Alexandria to thrive.

Since joining council in May 2025, I’ve:

• Chaired the Public Safety Committee and participated in a ride-along with a patrol sergeant and shadowed a detective.

• Worked with the Future Planning Committee; we adopted the city’s new logo while keeping our same motto.

• Participated in discussions about recruiting a YMCA branch in the Alexandria/Southern Campbell County area.

• Passed city E-bike legislation for the safety of pedestrians and kids.

• Attended many of the Parks & Rec events like the Fishing Derby, Bike Safety Day, Water Games Day, and more. I’ve encouraged continued growth and investment in our family-focused recreation programming out the park.

About Me

I grew up in Louisville and graduated from duPont Manual High School, where I played on the state champion lacrosse team. I went to college at UK and got a Bachelor’s in Agricultural Economics and then a Master’s in International Relations. I’ve worked primarily in the nonprofit industry, having jobs in sustainability, food banking, and managing online sales for farmers. I’m married to Stephen, who is a pastor, and we have three children: Caroline, Grace, and Peter. My oldest attends Reiley Elementary and my middle child attends Main Street Baptist Preschool. We moved to Alexandria when my husband took a job as the pastor at Alexandria Community Church. I love learning. I’ve been in book clubs on and off for 15-ish years and enjoy my book club here in Northern Kentucky. I’m passionate about exercising and participate in the group exercises classes at the Campbell County YMCA. I love gardening, particularly dahlias and vegetables, as well as horses, days in the woods with my family, and my church.
